The crash happened at around 4:20 p.m. east of the North Shore Blvd. exit in Burlington.1 B% L5 m& V6 v% z, D P
The Ontario Provincial Police said the southbound SUV struck the left median barrier, veered across several lanes, struck the right barrier, rolled onto its roof and stopped.; V, I: b: s% R' Y
Cst. Graham Williamson of the OPP said the accident involved a single car, a 2001 Ford Escape SUV that was carrying six people. He confirmed one woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger.4 o: y- U# o& Z) q3 f0 O0 t
The youngest passenger was transported to McMaster Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries while the other victims were taken to Hamilton General and Joseph Brant Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.$ L! V+ w: ]$ ]
Williamson would not confirm the ages of those injured. Police say no names would be released until next of kin have been reached.
