SIU spokesperson Frank Phillips confirmed this afternoon that the provincial watchdog, which investigates incidents involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault to determine whether officers should be charged, is involved due to the severity of the boy's injuries.( c6 m, b6 b+ {# P' ]. b1 [% L
The boy, who was initially taken to a local hospital and later transported to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, is expected to recover, said Peel Cst. Thomas Ruttan.
